David Gillespie is a singer-songwriter based in New York. Originally from Australia, he has called the city home for the past six years. Prior to arriving in New York he spent time in Melbourne, Toronto and Sydney, in addition to having spent his childhood in Hong Kong.
The net result is a thoroughly mixed-up accent and a global point of view.
His music meanwhile is the sum of many parts; raised on The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac and The Doobie Brothers, he found his way through Springsteen and Prince to modern acts like War On Drugs and Gary Clark Jr. The focus regardless has been the songwriting craft: lyric and melody, conflict and (sometimes) resolution.
Heathen Revival is his upcoming release, preceded by the single
When The Lights Go Out. The artist kindly requests that if you do play it, you play it rather loud.
