Starcraft 2 released today! →
dizzygee:
It’s about time!
Some fathers played cricket, baseball, rugby etc with their sons. Living in Hong Kong the football field was an asphalt slab on the top floor of Bradbury School - and the computer revolution was just starting.
So - we played computer games! Both sons contacted me today and went “Dad, guess what? To which I answered - “Starcraft 2 and the graphics are amazing”!...

I was saying to someone recently with the demise of physical media, surely along side that goes the demise of the furniture we’ve needed to store it.
Call me overly optimistic, but I feel like it is a fantastic opportunity for installation art and sculpture to make a long overdue return to our homes instead of existing solely within galleries....

Cuban on a swift boat to...God only knows.

We're moving at the same speed. And we're doing it...
…(the internet) is allowing a more rapid pace of change in society not by enlarging our brains but by circumventing the natural world’s way of keeping us from mental overload – physical distance from one another. Intent and the record industry
In a recent interview with the BBC, Mick Jagger said he’d made peace with the idea of people downloading music, largely because it was the label’s lament rather than his own:
…people only made money out of records for a very, very small time. When The Rolling Stones started out, we didn’t make any money out of records because record companies wouldn’t pay you!...

Foursquare's Ecosystem of Value
Image via Wikipedia
When looking at emerging web services, I ask myself a very simple question: does this create more value than it captures? It’s a pretty quick gut-check for figuring out if service has legs, and if you really think it is going to grow.
I loved Foursquare from the moment I saw it. Simple and focused, mobile, it brought people together in a physical space around a common...

Great presentation by @akispicer
**Update** Actually the first half is quite good, but I posted it too quickly as it subsequently tails off and tells me things I’ve known for years. But, it is just me, and I’ve always worked within a digital context as far as advertising is concerned, so this is likely new to some. I need to go think...

I’m late to the party on this campaign, brilliant and simple use of technology and rewarding the fans of your brand. The only thing I’ll add is it’s a fantastic example of looking at the opportunities enabled by technology which exists outside the realm of traditional media, let alone a media buy.

Now that everyone from CNN to McKinsey to Disney and beyond have drunk the social media Kool-Aid, attention is increasingly turning to the next step, what people call Web 3.0, or “Semantic Web”.
The semantic web defines itself as a form of the internet where our identities are distributed in such a way that our experience is tailored, on the fly, to be only things we want to see....

Being Present
One of the things I like most about Fred Wilson’s AVC is his willingness to mix the business and personal and write from the heart. Long time readers will know I’ve swung back and forth on that and finally settled on just putting everything I do under one banner, which may cost readers, but feels right.
Fred recently wrote about being in the moment, and not being distracted and...
